Robert Tantular

Robert Tantular is the 5th child of 6 children of a batik trader in Tanah Abang, Hashim Tantular. His father’s batik business was successful, so Hashim founded Bank Central Dagang (BCD) in 1965. Robert studied at Karunia Christian Elementary and Middle School, Pasar Baru, Jakarta. He continued his education at BPK Penabur Christian I Senior High School, Pintu Air, Jakarta. Robert aspired to become a doctor but was not accepted into the medical faculty of Universitas Indonesia. He then majored in civil engineering at Carleton University, Canada and graduated in 1985. He then continued his studies at George Washington University, USA and earned an MBA in 1988.
