Mammootty

Mammootty was born Muhammad Kutty Ismail Panaparambil on 7 September 1951 in Chandiroor in Travancore (now Kerala), and raised in the village of Chempu near Vaikom in Kottayam district in the present-day state of Kerala, India in a middle-class, Muslim family. His father, Ismail, had the wholesale business of garments and rice, and also the cultivation of rice while his mother, Fatima, was a housewife. He was their eldest son. Megastar Mammootty had an arranged marriage with Sulfath in 1979, when he started his film career. Mammootty always stated that Sulfath is his best and only female friend. Mammootty and Sulfath have two children — daughter Surumi and son Dulquer Salmaan. Surumi is married to cardio-thoracic surgeon Dr. Mohammed Rehan Sayeed and lives in Bangalore. His son Dulquer Salmaan married with Chennai based architect, Amaal Sufiya.
